A daughter of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto, Aisha, who died Saturday at the age of 76, has been described as the pillar of the Sardauna’s family.
Aisha, who was fondly called “Hajiya A’i”, died at a private hospital in Dubai, after battling with diabetes for years.

Engineer Aminu Nuhu, who is a nephew of the deceased, confirmed the death to Daily Trust Saturday.
She was the second of the three daughters of the late Sardauna.
One of the relatives of the deceased, Isa Maude, described her as a pillar of the Sardauna’s family, adding that, “We really lost a pillar. A great wall has fallen”
He noted that, “Hajiya has been a supporting pillar to many people in our family.”
Hajiya Aisha was also described as a philanthropist who worked for the well-being of the people.
“She used to bring children of her relations, especially those who are poor or living in the village, to her residence and train them.
“She even had an empowerment programme for women and orphans,” Maude said.
She was the wife of the chairman of the defunct Northern Nigeria Housing Corporation and one of the members, who represented Sokoto Province at the House of Representatives in the 1960s, Alhaji Ahmad Danbaba (Marafan Sokoto).
She was survived by five children and a younger sister who is the last daughter of the late Premier and wife of late Umaru Aliyu Shinkafi.
According to a family source, Hajiya Aisha would be buried at Hubbaren Shehu on Sunday, after a funeral prayer which would take place at Masallacin Bello in Sokoto.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has voiced sadness over death of Aisha Ahmadu Bello, second daughter of late Premier of defunct Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokot, the late Sir Ahmadu Bello.
President Buhari, in a statement issued yesterday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said “the deceased lived a worthy and humble life and was an embodiment of discipline and fine character.”
According to the President, Aishatu, who is the mother of Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, “was not only prominent on account of her birth into a powerful family, but also for her own decent character that endeared her to so many people.”
“At 75, Aisha lived a fulfilled life of modesty, discipline and decent character, virtues that should be emulated by her surviving children and other women,” the President added.
President Buhari extended his condolence to the Sokoto State Government, Emirate Council, her son, the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Danbaba and in-law Ambassador Shehu Malami, Sarki Sudan.
He prayed to Allah to forgive the gentle soul of the deceased and reward her noble deeds with paradise.
