Beware of unscrupulous persons using our name to seek fund, Senate panel warns tertiary institutions

The Senate Committee on Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND has raised the alarm that some unscrupulous persons were parading letters purportedly from the panel to seek for assistance from heads of agencies and tertiary institutions in the country.

A statement by the Clerk to the Committee, Dr. Mustapha Bintube, condemned the act as “fraudulent”, saying those involved in it were doing so to dent the integrity and reputations of the respected the committee members.

The committee urged all stakeholders to disregard any group of persons or individuals who approach them with letter of request for assistance purportedly from the Committee.

It also urged the heads of higher institutions to verify any correspondence from the committee’s clerk in the National Assembly before acting on it.

“The Committee is therefore advising those involved in this fraudulent act to henceforth desist as it will not hesitate to deal with anyone found wanting in accordance with the law,” the statement said.

“All stakeholders are advised to disregard any form of Communication other than the one which emanates from office of the Clerk to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND through its formal structure of communication.

“Furthermore, the Committee members are re-assuring the Heads of Agency and Higher Institutions of upholding the values attached to their prestigious offices,” the statement added.
