Jose Mourinho, who was relieved of his duty as Tottenham manager, will walk away with a compensation package worth up to £20million, according to reports.
Prior to his sack, the now ‘Jobless One’ was on a lucrative £15 million-a-year ($19m) contract.
Mourinho will be placed on gardening leave by Tottenham despite his dismissal meaning Spurs will continue to pay him as normal until he finds new employment meaning.
Seventeen months ago, the Portuguese tactician signed the dotted lines as he was named Tottenham Hotspur manager.
The North London club was his sixth club at the top level, having coached Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager was appointed by Spurs in November 2019, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, and had signed a deal until the end of the 2022-23 season.
He leaves the North London club seventh in the Premier League table, five points off the UEFA Champions League places.
Mourinho’s last game in charge was Friday’s 2-2 draw away in the league at Everton.
In his first campaign, Mourinho took Tottenham from 14th in the Premier League to sixth — securing Europa League qualification for 2020/21 — but RB Leipzig knocked Spurs out of the 2019 Champions League at the round-of-16 stage.
This season, the club was dumped out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb in the last-16.
According to Opta, only with Portuguese side Leiria has Mourinho posted a lower win ratio in all competitions in his managerial career than he has with Tottenham Hotspur.
Under Mourinho’s watch, no Premier League side has dropped more points from winning positions this season than Tottenham Hotspur with 20 and for the first time in his career, he has lost 10 league games.
Mourinho took in 86 games as Spurs manager, collecting 44 victories from those outings to go alongside 19 draws and 23 defeats.
He was able to guide Tottenham to the League Cup final this season, as they seek to bring a 13-year wait for tangible success to a close, but now finds himself looking for a new job which may not come anytime soon.
