Suspected Tiv militia were said to have launched an attack during the early hours of Thursday, killing three people in Wukari local government area of Taraba state.
Daily Trust gathered that the armed attackers came on several motorbikes to invade Rafinkada town, located along Wukari-Takum road and killed two women and an elderly person.
Many were wounded in the attack, forcing women and children to flee.
Ibrahim Tsokwa whose mother and sister-in-law were killed in the attack told Daily Trust that the attackers stormed Rafinkada town on several motorcycles at about 2 am Thursday and started shooting in all directions.
He said there was pandemonium and confusion because of the heavy shooting that was coming from all directions in the town.
He said the town is located not far away from Benue boundary and the town suffered more than twenty attacks from Tiv militia during Jukun-Tiv crisis.
“As I speak with you, we are preparing for the burial of the three persons killed,” Tsokwa said.
Tsokwa said soldiers have been drafted into the town and are on the trail of the attackers.
” We thought the Jukun_Tiv crisis was over and that was why the attackers caught us unawares,” another resident said.
The chairman of Wukari local government council Adi Daniel confirmed the killing of three persons in Rafinkada.
Spoke person of Taraba police command DSP David Misal confirmed the attack.
