The police have arraigned one Nosa Okoro (34), before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Benin for allegedly stealing 1,950 litres of petrol belonging to David Ikuoria.
The suspect was arraigned on a one-count charge of stealing punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Charity Asemota, told the court that on March 8, at No 12, Benin-Agbor Road, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, the suspect stole 1,950 litres of petrol.
He said the stolen items valued at N368,000, belonged to David Ikuoria.
The prosecutor further told the court that if the suspect is found guilty to the charge, he risks seven-year jail terms.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge while his counsel, Mr E.Uwaifor urged the court to grant him bail, assuring that the suspect would not jump bail if granted.
But the prosecutor did not object to the bail application of the accused.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mutairu Oare, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must be a responsible person and must depose to affidavit. of means while his address should be verified by the court registrar.
He therefore adjourned the case to May 11 for hearing.
