Residents of Dalle community in Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State have appealed to the local government council and the Kaduna State government to fix the only government-owned primary school in the area and complete the additional two classrooms that the community attempted to construct two years ago.
The village head of Dalle, Alhassan Galadima, told Arewa Trust Weekly correspondent, who visited the village that the school’s five-classroom block was built during the administration of General Yakubu Gowon in 1973.
Galadima said the classes are not only overpopulated but that the school is now faced with several problems including lack of chairs and benches.
“We decided as a community to build additional classes which we set up a committee and we succeeded in building these classes but we cannot afford to complete the building as we ran out of money. We went to the local government chairman two years ago and he promised to do something but up to now we are waiting for him,” he said. He also appealed to government to address the lack of potable water, health facility, accessible road and electricity in the community.
