AbdulJabbar followers beg Ganduje to reopen mosque ahead of Ramadan

Followers of controversial Kano Islamic scholar, Abduljabbar Kabara, have called on  Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to reopen the scholar’s mosque ahead of Ramadan fast.

The state closed down the mosque after a disagreement between Kabara and other Islamic scholars.

Speaking on behalf of the followers of the scholar at a news briefing in Kaduna, Imam Mohammed Rabiu Zakariya denied all allegations against their leader, describing him as the most peaceful cleric in Nigeria.

“We as his students and followers are pleading with the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to reopen our Islamic school and mosque that were shut down for the benefit our Muslim umma in the state,” he said.

He also urged the governor to reorganize the debate between their leader and other clerics in Kano so as to clear the misunderstanding between them for the benefit of the religion, saying Abduljabbar has never tarnished the image of the Prophet and would never do so.

On the speculations that Shaikh Abduljabbar is a follower of Shi’a, Zakariya said their leader never discriminates among Islamic sects as he respects each one of them.

According to him, those attending the lectures of Abduljabbar include Tijjaniyya sects members, Shi’as, Kadiriyas and even Izala members.

He further urged other scholars with different views with Shaikh Abduljabbar preaching to desists from tarnishing his image in the public.
