The incident led to the collapse of economic activities in the area.

However, succour came the way of the residents following the purchase and installation of a 500KVA transformer by the state government.

There was wild jubilation by both young and old members of the community as the new transformer was energised.

The Village Head of Sabon Kaura, Abdussalami Sarki Umaru said the timely intervention of the governor saved the community and restored hopes  in the residents.

Abdussalami recalled how his brother the late village head fell into a drainage and died on his way to attend a meeting with officials of the electricity distribution company on the matter.

He said many youths were left to struggle for a living because of the blackout, which forced them to close down their businesses.

The representative of the state governor, Alhaji Musa Ahmed Azare, told the journalists that when the governor heard the complaint of the community, he directed him to investigate and give him a report and recommendations.

He said immediately after he submitted the report, the governor directed him to provide them with a 500 KVA transformer to boost electricity supply in the area.

Musa Azare, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects, explained that the governor had set up a special committee that is going round the 20 local government areas of the state to restore the electricity supply in the communities that were cut off.

He commended the community for their support and steadfastness towards the success of the exercise and assured them of the state government readiness to provide them with more social amenities.
