Fulani group calls on IGP to investigate killing of herders in Plateau

The Junde Jam Fulani Association of Nigeria has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, to as matter of urgency investigate the killing of two herders in Dogondaji village of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Benue/Plateau Trust on Tuesday reported how two herders who were in search of their missing cows were killed but both the vigilantes of the community and the police disagreed over those responsible for the death.

Our correspondent gathered that the vigilantes were said to have arrested the two herders and handed them over to the police in Bassa, a claim that was earlier denied by the police, saying that they (police) were only asked to come and evacuate the bodies.

On Wednesday, the state police command said it was aware of the incident and the officers involved including the DPO of the area had been detained.

While condemning the killing, the National President of the group, Sa’idu Maikano Adamu, described it as deliberate, calling on the IGP to ensure justice for the deceased’s family.

Musa Muhammed Adam, an uncle to the deceased, accused the DPO of killing the victims deliberately.
