A magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, on Tuesday, remanded one Bahago Sarki Wasagu, a cattle rearer, for allegedly macheting one Ibrahim Mada who later died at the hospital.
He was brought to court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to section 97 and 221 of the penal code law.

According to the charge sheet, the accused stated that he went to the beer parlour with his brother, Ali, where they met the deceased who he claimed had assaulted him sometimes ago.
”You slapped the deceased and told him you are ready to fight and in the process mistakenly threw away a bottle of beer belonging to one Tara who pulled his machete to fight you but your brother, Ali in the process of defending you macheted the deceased on his leg severely who later died at the hospital”, the police alleged.
Prosecutor, Olayide Sekunda, urged the court to remand the accused in prison who is yet to get legal representation.
In his ruling, the court declined to take the plea of the accused pending the advice of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Magistrate T.F Ajayi further added that the court lacked jurisdiction to try the case and adjourned it to April 18th, 2021 for further mention.
