Buni receives ex-chief of army staff Ihejirika into APC

Yobe state governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Mai Mala Buni has received a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Oyeabo Azubike Ihejirika (rtd) Cfr “Dike Abia” into the party.

A statement by Buni’s Director General on Media, Mamman Mohammed on Friday said Ihejirika was formally presented to the Chairman by the Jigawa state governor and Chairman of APC Strategy and Contact Committee Alh. Abubakar Badaru and Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu.

“The coming of Gen. Ihejirika will increase the fortunes of the party in Abia state and the South East generally.

“This is a great moment for the party as Gen. Ihejirika and other sons and daughters of the region are coming into the party to deliver the region and bring the South East closer to the center. We look forward to more of APC presence in the South East,” Buni said.

In another statement, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena on Friday said the Thursday conviction of Returning Officer in the Akwa-Ibom North-west senatorial election, Professor Peter Ogban for allegedly manipulating the results of two local government areas – Oruk Anam and Etim Ekpo has vindicated the ruling party.

“We celebrate the Court’s pronouncement jailing one of the agents of the PDP used against our candidate (Akpabio) in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom north-west in 2019.

“We always believe that ‘if a lie goes for twenty years, the truth will meet it one day’. This judgement is significant in the sense that others like Prof. Ogban in the system should henceforth know that under the present Federal Government-APC’s administration, justice will always prevail,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to disregard the attempt by the PDP to misinform the general public on the real issue.
