Buhari pledges improved lives for youths — Minister

President Muhammadu Buhari has shown uncommon commitment towards improving the lives of Nigerian youths across board.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, stated this during a visit to the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Corps Members at the NYSC FCT Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.

He said this was demonstrated by the creation of the N75 billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and various youth’s empowerment and digital skills programmes for youths.

While inspecting the parade of about 1,723 corps members registered at the camp, the minister enjoined them to allow the lessons of the NYSC orientation abide in them and carry such lessons onward as they serve the country in their various capacities as corps members throughout the year.

“My message is a short one and is to let you know that NYSC is the single largest concentration of Nigeria youths numbering about 320,000 annually being maintained and sustained over time by FG and will collectively serve our aspiration.”

He encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the government low interest loan to invest in SMEs while serving and after their service year, stressing that youths can access between N250,000 and N3 million under the NYIF scheme to help them become entrepreneurs and employers of labour.

The NYSC FCT Coordinator, Suleiman Abdul, who welcomed the minister and his entourage, said his visit will further boost the morale of the NYSC officials and propel them to provide ace-services to corps members and numerous clients.
