The House of Representatives on Tuesday said Nigeria had lost about $5.7 billion from concessions and leasing of Federal Government-owned assets.

The chairman of the house ad-hoc committee set up to investigate the matter, Daniel Asuquo, said this at the maiden meeting of the committee.

“We’re worried that the lease and concession of Federal Government assets may be compromised where there is no oversight.”

He said the committee would adopt a work plan and strategy to conduct an in-depth investigation into all leases and concessions of Federal Government-owned assets to plug leakages and enhancing government revenue generation for budget implementation.

He said: “A case in point is that of the Murtala Muhammed Domestic Airport Terminal 2, the domestic terminal of the international airport situated in Lagos and its ancillary facilities which were developed under a BOT agreement.
