24-year-old Kaosarah finally named Kwara’s SSA Youths Engagement

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has named 24-year-old Adeyi Kaosarah as his Senior Special Assistant on Youth Engagement, a statement said on Tuesday night.

Her announcement is coming on the heels of her initial nomination as commissioner in the state.

Similarly, the Governor has appointed Fatima Jummai Audu as Special Adviser on Women Affairs.

According to the statement by CPS, Rafiu Ajakaye, Kaosarah comes to the job with several certifications on youth affairs, including at continental level.

”Jummai Audu, born in 1954, holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labour Relation (MILR) and Bachelor of Arts in Education, both from the University of Ilorin.

”She was State President of the National Council of Women Society; National Secretary of the Society; a member of the Federal Government’s Implementation Committee of N50bn Agric Loan Scheme; executive member of the All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria; and Director of Ajikobi Micro Finance Bank Nigeria Limited.

She was at various times director of personnel management (DPM) in Edu, Ilorin East, Oke Ero and Isin local government areas.

”Hajia Jummai, a retired teacher and one-time senatorial aspirant, is from Edu local government area of Kwara State”, it added.

The appointment of Adeyi comes after controversy surrounding the inclusion of her name in a list of nominees for commissioner-designate.

Hours after Kwara state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, announced the nomination of Adeyi, a 24-year-old University of Ilorin Graduate as a commissioner, one of the proponents of the #NotTooYoungToRun law, Samson Itodo, faulted the nomination.

Citing Section 106 of the 1999 amended constitution, Itodo said the criteria for being appointed a Commissioner of any state in Nigeria is 25 years.

Adeyi, the youngest nominee in the history of the state and from Ilorin West, was part of the eight names initially read during plenary by the Speaker, Engr Danladi Yakubu Salihu.

However, another statement from the Media Team of the Speaker Tuesday evening ”acknowledged the receipt of seven commissioner nominees” with the exclusion of the name of Adeyi.

But findings by Daily Trust revealed that there was a mix-up between the executive and the legislature in the channels of communication over the issue.

The Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon Awolola Opakunle while reacting to the development in a chat said, ”We should wait till their screening on Thursday to know whether her name was there or not”.
