Kogi gets substantive chief judge

A new substantive chief judge of Kogi State has emerged.

He is Justice Sunday Omeiza Otu who, until his new appointment, was operating in an acting capacity.

He assumed the position in acting capacity early this year soon after the retirement of Justice Henry Olusuyi, whose tenure was short-lived in the history of the state.

The appointment of Justice Otu followed the adoption of a motion moved by the House leader, Mr Bello Abdullahi (APC, Ajaokuta constituency).

The motion was seconded by Mr Muktar Obaje of Okehi constituency.

The Speaker, Matthew Kolawole, ruled that the nominee should take a bow and leave. In his ruling, Kolawole announced the confirmation of the nominee and directed the clerk to issue a resolution to that effect to the executive.

However, there are strong indications that the newly appointed chief judge may retire by the end of this week.
