Court remands man over goat theft

A Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin has remanded one Habeeb Yusuf at the Oke-kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin for allegedly stealing a goat.

Yusuf was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.

Magistrate Olaolu Muyiwa ordered that the defendant be remanded pending the completion of investigation into the case.

He adjourned the case until March 22.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the defendant was caught in the act at the Adeta area of Ilorin.

The FIR indicated that the offences contravened sections 348 and 287 of the penal code law.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
