Women’s March: Rendezvous With Zainab Okino, The Perceptive Editor

Few women journalists have risen to the pinnacle of newspaper journalism in Nigeria, fewer still remain relevant and always in vogue.

And Hajiya Zainab Suleiman Okino, whose column, “Rendezvous”, is syndicated by several portals, is one of those who lead in that direction.

  • She is an alumnus of the US Department of State’s International Visitors Leadership Programme.
  • She was pioneer Production Editor of Weekly Trust (now Daily Trust on Saturday).
  • She was Deputy Editor Daily Trust, Editor Weekly Trust, Deputy Managing Editor and Deputy Chairman of the Editorial Board at Media Trust Limited.
  • She was Managing Editor, Leadership, Editor-at-Large, The Sun, and Executive Editor, Blueprint.
  • She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
  • She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English/History from Bayero University, Kano and a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
