The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Sabo Nanono, says the collapse of agricultural extension services has affected food production and exposed the country to dangers of unemployment, youth restiveness and economic instability.
He said this on Monday in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the training of extension agents in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Over the years, the fortunes of the agricultural extension system have declined majorly due to decreased funding, policy changes, reduced man-power and lack of interest of young people in agricultural entrepreneurship,” he said.
