A twenty-five -year-old man, Lawal Hamed, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate court for allegedly stealing property worth N296 million.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, told the court on Monday that the defendant, on February 29, 2021, at about 1.00a.m, at Ado-Ekiti, stole 12mm iron rods and planks valued at N296,100, 00, property of Babalola Ayodele.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State 2012 and Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant bail to the defendant in liberal terms, saying he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Titilayo Ogunsina, granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum; one of the sureties shall provide landed property. She adjourned the case until March 24, 2021, for hearing.
