The police in Benue State said it would soon start clamping down on the increasing number of unregistered vehicles plying roads in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Audu Madaki, has also ordered the immediate enforcement of the directive on cars, tricycles and motorcycles.

He said the idea was part of his new administration’s effort to fight crime across the 23 local government areas of the state.
Madaki said the action was a step towards easy identification and apprehension of criminals.
He, therefore, enjoined the people to register their vehicles for easy identification, adding that criminals usually use unregistered vehicles to commit crimes.
The commissioner added that police officers have been cautioned to be civil and professional but firm while enforcing the law.
