Zamfara state assembly has rejected federal government’s order of a “no-fly” zone on the state and a ban on mining activities.
At is plenary on Wednesday it passed a vote of “no confidence” on National Security Adviser Major General Babagana Munguno.

The lawmakers cited “nonchalant attitude and poor handling of protracted security challenges in the state by the National Security Adviser.”
The resolutions come after a motion raised by the leader of the house Faruk Dosara, blaming failure of security agencies for failing in prompt response to distress calls.
The motion also faulted mode of intelligence gathering and sharing among agencies, the public relations officer of the assembly, Mustapha Kaura, said in a statement.
The assembly also recommended that the federal government, without further delay, should set up a high powered committee to investigate and review the security architecture of all the security agencies and the level of their intelligence network in the state.
They called upon the state government to as a matter of urgency set up an investigative committee to probe people allegedly undermining the ongoing peace process in the state irrespective of their political affiliations.
Speaking on the “no-fly” zone order, Dosara said the order was “unwarranted”, noting that abduction of school children did not start from Zamfara.
He cited mass school kidnappings in Chibok, Dapchi, Kankara and Kagara, noting the states were not being penalised by the Buhari administration except in the case of Zamfara’s Jangebe abductions.
The Arewa Consultative Forum is among groups that have called for the “no-fly” zone order to be extended to Benue, Taraba and other states facing security challenges.
