The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has postponed the date for the conduct of the state’s local government elections to June 5, 2021, as against May 2021.
The Acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Sambo, announced the new date at a meeting held with the representatives of all the political parties in the state on Wednesday.

According to him, the commission is ever-ready to conduct a free, fair and credible election, as he assured all the political parties of the commission’s readiness for a fair election.
He said that going by the new timetable, the campaign for the election has already commenced in the state from the 3rd of March, 2021 as he urged the political parties to play by the rules.
The Acting Chairman also distributed the 2021 local government Council Elections Guidelines to all the representative of the political parties at the meeting, urging them to go and study it.
“We want to announce to you that the commission has extended the local government election date which was earlier scheduled for May 15, 2021, which has been extended to June 5, 2021.
“We adjusted the date to a new date because we want to do a thorough job that will be honoured by all the political parties participating,” he said.
He further stated that the state government has reconstituted the election committee in the commission, as he urged the political parties to support the commission to deliver a free and fair election.
Sambo said the commission has a very sincere intention for a free and fair election as he called on the political parties to abide by the guidelines given to them.
In his remarks, the Peoples Democratic Party’s State Secretary, Ibrahim Wosono, called on the commission to be sincere in discharging its duties.
