Insurgency: NEDC reconstructs bridges, empowers 140 in Adamawa

The North East Development Commission has flagged off the reconstruction of Kudzum, Dilechim and Wuro-Ngaindi Bridges destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in Adamawa State.

The commission also empowered 140 youths with ICT skill acquisition, a starter pack and N20,000 each to make them self reliant.

NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, said the reconstruction of the three bridges would be done in the awarded 80km Jabbi Lamba Belel Road contract with Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as a co-funder.

He said the reconstruction of these bridges would restore important trade links between Borno and Adamawa States as well as with the Republic of Cameroun.

He appealed to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to encourage and further support the youth of the state by allocating strategic business premises to them for the next two years to enable them commence their vocation seamlessly.

Governor Fintiri said the intervention by the commission would build public trust in government.
