The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof Kabir Bala, has said the institution has concluded plans for a national symposium to proffer solutions towards solving farmers-herders’ crises in the country.
Prof Bala made the position known during the commissioning of a N6m learning facility donated by Prof Joseph Yayock to the school’s agricultural library in Zaria.

The VC, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Administration, Prof Zubair Abubakar-Sadeeq, said the university would use its agricultural complex to interrogate the issues of farmers and herders and provide innovations towards revamping the sector.
To achieve this, Prof Bala said the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), among other establishments of agriculture of the university, would have roles to play.
The VC further said the facility donated by Prof Yayock would promote research and development.
Corroborating, the Director, of the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Prof Mohammed-Faguji Ishiyaku, said the facility would scale up the knowledge base of the institute.
