The state’s Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, in a statement on Sunday said that both Sheikh Abduljabbar and the Council of Ulamas have been served with the letter indicating the schedule for the debate.

However, Abduljabbar said that all his preaching and lectures are made with a view of protecting the integrity and personality of the Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH contrary to what some people are accusing him of.

“I want to use this opportunity to inform His Excellency that, I consider it very sensitive, the issue of disrespecting the personality of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and his righteous companions and I have never and will never disrespect the personality of the Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH or any of his righteous companions.

“In view of the above, I accepted this invitation and I will attend the dialogue with an open mind and I hope all the concerned parties will attend the dialogue with an open mind,” the letter read.

He added that he hope the dialogue will bring understanding and lasting solution to the issue especially “where all the concerned parties are given equal treatment and fair hearing during the dialogue.”
