2021 Daura Senatorial Zone PMB Cup kicks-off March 1

It promises to be pomp and pageantry as the 2021 edition of the annual Daura Senatorial Zone President Muhammadu Buhari, PMB, football competition for the ‘Next Level’ kicks off on Monday, March 1 with over 43 youth teams competing for honours.

The opening match will be between Nasarawa United and Eagle Stars FC Maiadua at Sandamu LGA Sports Arena at 3:45pm in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.

The annual youth football tournament which features teams from 12 local governments in Daura Senatorial district is staged in appreciation of the laudable achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The 43 clubs that have registered for the competition are divided into group A to H with centres at Daura, Mani and Kankia.

Daura centre will host teams from Kankia, Zango, Baure and Ingawa. Mani Centre will host teams from Daura, Dutsi, Maiadua and Mashi while Kankia centre will be venue for teams from Mani, Bindawa, Kusada and Sandamu Local Government Area.

According to the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Alhaji Sani Abu Daura, all arrangements have been put in place for a hitch-free tournament.

He added that three centres, Daura, Mani and Kankia will host all preliminary matches but second round matches will be decided at Sandamu, Mani and Kankia.

Daura maintained that for quarter-final matches, two will be staged in Sandamu LGA with Mani and Kankia hosting one each.

The LOC Chairman announced Daura LGA Sports Arena as venue for the semi-finals, third place and grand finale of the tournament.

LOC Secretary, Aliyu Bello also said the competition is to engage the youths positively by giving them the opportunity to be discovered and nurtured for stardom.

The 2020 edition of the competition suffered the same fate with other sporting events that were wiped off by the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19.
