Imo: Igbo forum want political solution to Okorocha, Uzodinma feud

Following the violent face-off between incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma and a former governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, the Ndigbo Good Governance Initiative (NGGI) has called for a political solution to the crisis.

The National President of the NGGI, Hon. Nonso David Ezedinma, at a press conference on Monday in Abuja, said that the crisis between the two politicians, if not resolved now, is capable of taking a worse dimension that may even goes beyond Imo State.

Daily Trust reports that despite being in the same ruling APC, the latest crisis between the two political foes was over the unsealing of the Royal Spring Palm Hotel located at Akachi road in Owerri, the state capital by Okorocha after it was taken over by the Uzodinma administration, leading to violence and death of at least two supporters during the fracas.

“Despite former political affiliation and differences, the current governor and the former governor are from the same zone and have been in good relationship. So being in the same political platform should immediately strike their minds to resolve amicably.

“The factions should not allow thugs, miscreants and people who stand to lose nothing, to blow this matter out of proportion, as no one will be able to say where the crisis will end. No faction should take laws into their hands but use judicial means to bring this debacle to an immediate end,” Ezedinma said.

He said, “We cannot be fighting ourselves within with the present situation in the country, we all need to be together to solve the problems confronting us. Therefore, we need a lasting political solution to this crisis and all the stakeholders and others concerned must act immediately.”

According to him, with the insecurity challenges in the country, this is not the time for other internal crises.
