Gunmen have abducted a lecturer of the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Jones Ayuwo, and King Aaron Ikuru, a first-class Traditional Ruler from Ikuru town in Andoni Local Government Area of the state.
Dr Ayuwo was abducted along Andoni-Ogoni road on Sunday night.

Ayuwo, who lectures at the Linguistics and Communications Department of the university, was abducted while returning from Andoni Local Government Area of the state, where he attended a function by his Local Language Bible translation Committee, which he serves as a secretary .
The Spokesman of University of Port Harcourt, Samuel Kpenu, confirmed the incident to our reporter in Port Harcourt.
He said the University authorities were informed about the incident by the occupants of the vehicle the lecturer boarded.
He said the abductors have not established contact with the University or the family of the victim, urging them to release him unconditionally.
Similarly, a first-class traditional ruler from Ikuru town in Andoni Local Government Area, King Aaron Ikuru, was also abducted at the weekend.
The traditional ruler was said to have been abducted when gunmen stormed his residence.
When contacted, Spokesmen of Rivers Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, said he heard about the incidents but does not have details.
