The Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) Sokoto has called on its alumni to support the university in building accommodation for its teeming student population.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Lawal Suleman Bilbis, made the call at an award dinner organized by the Abuja Chapter of UDUS’ Alumni Association.

Bilbis, who was represented by Prof. Samaila Kamba, said the number of hostels in the school was largely inadequate for the huge students’ population.
He said the recent fire incident at the university’s female hostel further worsened the accommodation crisis.
Meanwhile, the Association honoured a former Commissioner in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, who was recently appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC).
Speaking at the event, Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, attributed the success the state recorded in the housing sector to the hard work of Alhaji Sadiq Yelwa and urged him to replicate his experience in the new commission.
