NOA takes ‘love Nigeria’ campaign to churches, mosques

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has taken its new initiative of “Fall in love with Nigeria” campaign to churches and mosques in Benue State.

The State Director of NOA, Chief Richard Abimiku Audu, appealed to churches and mosques in the state to comply with the COVID-19 protocols and also promote national security.

Audu, during a town hall meeting on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue and launch of training manual for religious leaders on promoting peace in the age of social media held in Makurdi, stressed the need for thorough sensitisation of Nigerians.

He said the campaign to sensitize and re-orient citizens on national heritage, culture, values, virtues, strength, peace and patriotism among other areas of the agency’s  mandate aimed at building a people of peace who would fall in love with Nigeria by being patriotic to do their part in keeping Nigeria secure and safe from COVID-19.

“Our nation is passing through a critical period, like many other nations of the world that are battling with the challenge of COVlD-19. The battle against COVlD-19 cannot be won without the active support of members of the public,” he said.

“I wish to appeal that we all adhere to COVlD-19 protocols. I want to assure you that no vaccine will be administered on Nigerians without first passing NAFDAC scrutiny. When the vaccine becomes available, we should not hesitate to avail ourselves for vaccination so that we and our families can be safe from COVlD-19 infection.

“I also want to urge citizens to be security conscious. Unless we are willing to provide information to security agencies, they may not be able to accomplish as much success as desired. So I urge you to say something: if you see something; we all have a stake in the security of our nation,” he said.
