Alleged killer of Nasarawa APC Chairman arrested

The Police Command in Nasarawa State, on Thursday, disclosed that it has arrested one Yunusa Alhaji Yusuf (alias Nunu), one of the alleged killers of late APC Chairman in the State, Tatari Shekwo.

The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, disclosed this during the relaunch of the Nigeria Police Force ‘Operation Puff Adder 2’ in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.

According to him, “Yunusa Alhaji Yusuf (alias Nunu) has been on the wanted list of the Police Command for his alleged involvement in the killing of the former APC’s State chairman, late Mr Philip Tatari Shekwo.

“Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.

” On 14/2/2021 at about 1630hrs, while working on credible intelligence, Police personnel attached to Awe Division arrested two suspected kidnappers namely: (i) Yunusa Alhaji Yusuf Alias Nunu “m” aged 30years of Obi LGA
(ii) Yusuf Alhassan “m” of Azara in Awe LGA.

“A small bag containing criminal charms and a cash sum of four hundred and fifty thousand naira (#450,000) were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the money found in possession of the suspects were ransom collected before releasing a kidnap victim in neighbouring Taraba State,” he said.

Nasarawa State Police Command says it has identified strategic spots prone to attacks by bandits and other criminal activities across the state for surveillance operations.

Mr Longe said the well-equipped police personnel, comprising Mobile Police (MOPOL), Special Forces, and Counter-Terrorists Officers, had been deployed to strategic locations to tackle any form of insecurity in the state.

He pointed out that the operation would work closely with 503 trained Special Constables, who are providing the police with credible information on criminal activities in their various communities, to achieve the desired results.
