The House of Representatives has directed its Committee on Finance to investigate the disbursement and utilisation of N96.191 billion Special Interventions Funds (SIF) provided to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) between 2015 and 2020.
This was sequel to a motion moved by Hon Henry Nwauba at the plenary on Tuesday.

While moving the motion, Nwauba said some of the agencies saddled with the disbursement or utilisation of the federal government’s SIF had failed to account on how they disbursed or utilised the funds.
According to the lawmaker, the federal government had released various SIFs to MDAs between 2015 and 2020.
He listed the funds as Special Intervention MDGs (2015) – N7.689bn; Contingency – N22.469bn and MDGs Special Projects – N7.3bn.
Others are Special Intervention (2020) – N39.9bn; Special Intervention/Constituency Projects – N3bn and Capital Contingency – N15.8bn.
According to him, there are other interventions in other areas like the National Water Rehabilitation Project, National Agriculture Technology Programme, salary bailout to states, payment for fertiliser, state water supply project, state agriculture project and FADAMA projects.
