APC registration: Anambra chair demands N200m, says N40m not enough

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, has said the N40m provided to the state for the membership registration and revalidation exercise was not enough, saying they needed N200m to conclude it.

Ejidike, who addressed journalists on the on-going exercise on Tuesday, said N40m provided to the state by two governors – David Umahi (Ebonyi) and Hope Uzodimma (Imo) – was not enough to complete the exercise.

“For the party to have a successful and seamless registration and revalidation exercise in Anambra State, it needs between N180 and N200m to effectively conduct its registration and revalidation. We still need more money from our stakeholders to meet our target of mobilising people for registration,” he said.

According to him, the party decided to hold a stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday to strategise on how to raise more funds for the exercise.

Describing the exercise as critical, Ejidike said the party is seriously working towards free and transparent registration to enable all those who are interested in the party to join.

Of the N40m given to the state by the two governors, he said they distributed N50,000 to each of the 326 wards and N100,000 to each of the 21 local governments of the state.
