Homosexuality: Biden’s call for valueless legislation

I was miffed when I read on the news media that the United States President, Joe Biden, has directed American High Mission in Nigeria and other countries to push for the legislation on homosexuality in their respective countries of residence.

Homosexuality is not alien to the customs and norms of the US and we don’t care how  they fix it in their legislations  but in Africa, given how we  cherish our norms, values and beliefs with sacred deity, Nigeria, specifically, has no place for the dirt of homosexuality.

As a people defined by good morals and traditions, we would resist, in the strongest terms, any attempt to inflict bad influence on our culture.

SPONSOR AD

Nigeria as a country highly respects the people and the government of United States and wishes them well as they continue to make laws in the interest of their people.

We assume that the US government has a similar amount or even more respect for the Nigerian government and Nigerians, which must be reflected in how they treat our laws, culture and norms.

For President Joe Biden to renew call for including homosexuality in our laws, which was first anchored in 2011 when he served as Vice President to the former President,Barrack Obama is uncalled for, given that we have a law against it.

My appeal to our legislators is to completely disregard any call for making legislation that would give statutory backing to homosexuality. Nigeria is not America and let them do it over there.
