How Police, Vigilante foiled kidnap attempt in Abuja

The police and some members of the vigilante group have foiled a kidnap attempt at a residential building behind a police station in Abaji, Abuja.
A security guard of the house, who preferred anonymity, said the kidnapers invaded the house around 1:am on Sunday, after some of the kidnappers scaled through the fence.
He said some of the kidnappers took stategic positions, while others surrounded the house.
According to him, one of the kidnappers shot into the air, which he said attracted the attention of the police and some vigilante members that immediately engaged them in a shoot-out.
“It was after one them scaled through the fence and I grabbed and started struggling with him, in which other gangs outside started shooting sporadically, but luckily enough, the police and some vigilante members also engaged them in shoot-out,” he said.

He said some of the kidnappers destroyed the burglary windows of the house, even as he said they couldn’t succeed to kidnap anyone inside.
“In fact, some the kidnappers jumped through the back fence and destroyed the solar light inside the compound, ” he said.
Daily trust learnt that the owner of the house, simply identified as Emos, was not at home when the kidnappers invaded the house.
Our reporter, who visited the house met the Abaji divisional police officer and the Area commander , where they met Emos’ wife to obtain a statement from her.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, was yet to pick calls or reply to text message sent to her to confirm the incident.
