There was confusion at the Aba road secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as two dynamites exploded during the councillorship primaries of the Party.
The dynamites were said to have been detonated from an SUV by a suspected aggrieved member of the party from at about 3 pm.

The explosion caused pandemonium as party supporters, who were seen around the secretariat to support their preferred candidates, scampered for safety.
It was not, however, clear on the reason for the blast, but sources at the PDP’s secretariat said it might not be unconnected to allegations of imposition of candidates in some local government areas (LGAs).
There was no casualty and calm has returned to the secretariat.
When contacted, Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, said that he has not been briefed officially about the incident.
Omoni said that he had contacted the DPO in charge of the area the secretariat is located who he said confirmed that he heard a loud noise close to the secretariat but could not confirm if it was an explosion.
