Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) under the leadership of its President-General, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has commended the timely intervention by the Kano State Government in the case of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara.
It would be recalled that the state government recently debarred an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara from preaching in the state for his mode of teaching considered too incendiary.

JNI Secretary-General, Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement, however, condemned the Kano cleric who he said: “relishes in denigrating the household and the companions of the Prophet (PBUH), which tantamount to disrespect to Rasulullah.
“The generation of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) is the best of all generations hence anyone who tries to insult or malign their integrity would be vehemently opposed by every true, sincere Muslim the world over.”
Dr Aliyu said the action of Abduljabbar of Kano was “an indirect insult on the personality of the noble Prophet (PBUH) which we will never take lightly.”
The JNI backed the suspension of his activities and “preaching” throughout the state pending the outcome of investigations instituted against him.
He urged the Muslim ummah to persistently seek for the true knowledge and understanding of Islam so as to practice the religion without being swayed and deceived by unguided “scholars”.
In another development, the Council of Imams and Ulama, Kaduna State chapter has called on the federal government not to seek for the support of Israel in the fight against Boko Haram and bandits.
The Secretary-General of the council, Yusuf Yakubu Arrigasiyyu, said the body was of the view that there was no rationality for the call from some quarters that the Nigerian government should seek for the support of Israel in the fight against Boko Haram and bandits.
He said: “The council believes that like Boko Haram and bandits, Israel has killed thousands of innocent Palestinians including women, children and the old unjustly and has continued to terrorise thousands of peace-loving Palestinians in their motherland, therefore inviting Israel to Nigeria for whatever reasons in the name of fighting bandits is a disaster to the Nigerian masses and the government.
“The council, therefore, implores the government to strengthen the Nigerian security agencies with the view to ending the security challenges in the country.”
