Former Super Eagles players, Abdul Sule and John Gaadi and other friends of Barrister Paul Edeh on Saturday teamed up to play a novelty football match against Nigeria Professional Women Championship League side, Naija Ratels to create awareness against gender based violence.
The highly entertaining match played at the Area 3 football pitch under the theme ‘kick-Out Gender Based violence’ ended 1-1.

Adanna Nwachukwu opened the scoring for Naija Ratels in the first half but burly forward, Kenny Jubril levelled scores for his side in the dying minutes of the match.
Some of the ex-players who featured for Friends of Edeh were the manager of the national U-17 female team, Coach Bankole Oloowokere, ex-Lobi stars midfielder, Jeremiah Iorsue Kuhwa, FCT Coaches Association chairman, Godwin Bamigboye.
Speaking at the end of the match, the president of Naija Ratels Barrister Edeh said the match was organised to create awareness against any form of violence towards the girl child.
“Gender based violence is not supposed to be in our society. We are supposed to respect womanhood. It is for this reason that we have invited men who have achieved and accomplished heights in the society to come and create more awareness about the evils of violence against women
“It may also interest you to note that as men we need to continually give back to our society, particularly womanhood.
“It is on this note that Naija Ratels for playing well and highlighting the theme of today’s event will go home with the sum of one hundred thousand naira.
“In addition, let me use this opportunity to announce to you that starting from today, every player in Naija Ratels is entitled to scholarship up to university level,” said Edeh.
