CITAD engages community leaders on checking insurgency without violence

A non-governmental organisation, Centre for Information Technology And Development (CITAD), have engaged community leaders, stakeholders, women and youths on how to use non-violence means to end insurgency in the Northeastern region of the country.

CITAD Senior Program Officer, Malam Hamza Ibrahim, stated this in Yola while presenting a book on ‘Non-violence resolution of insurgency in Northeast.‘

He said according to their findings, religious and traditional bodies play a vital role in bringing peace through dialogue due to their historical roles in conflict resolutions.

He explained that key important interviews, which include; women groups, farmers, repentant insurgents, internally displaced persons, key informants were conducted in the northeastern states before the compilation of the book.

Their findings, he said, shows that local vigilantes, hunters and other security agencies should always be involved in dialogue and reconciliation process with the insurgent.
