Benue: Ebonyi indigenes take refuge in Benue

At least 2,000 indigenes of Ezza and Izza in Effium communities of Ebonyi State have fled the crises in their areas to take refuge in bordering villages of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

The two-sister communities have in recent times engaged in hostilities.

Daily Trust reports that the displaced persons are mostly women and children and are camping in Inikiri, Odeke and Udabasi villages; all in Ado LGA.

The Supervisory Councillor for Education, Youths and Sports of Ado LGA, Attah Ede, who confirmed the development, told our correspondent that since the arrival of the displaced people there had been apprehension in the communities hosting them.

He, however, said the council’s Chairman, James Oche, had alerted security agents.
