Police arrest cultists over murder in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists, Usman Jamiu and Ismail Azeez in Ejogbo town in the state for alleged murder.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Wale Olokode, said the suspects were members of the Aiye and Eiye secret cult groups in the town.

He said the suspects, Azeez, 28 and Jamiu, 21, were terrorising Oke-Odo and Isale Agoji areas of Ejigbo as they engaged in a supremacy conflict.

The police chief said the two rival cult gang leaders engaged themselves in a gun battle in which a 22-year-old man, Abifarin Abeeb was killed.

Olokode said the corpse of the deceased was evacuated and deposited at Adeeyo Private Hospital Mortuary, Ejigbo.

The CP explained that intensive efforts and discreet investigation by the police detectives led to the apprehension of two suspects, adding that they would be arraigned in court after investigation.
