Police nab suspected robbers, kidnappers in Abuja surbub

Police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it has arrested some suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in satellite towns of the city.

The commissioner of police in FCT, CP Bala Ciroma, who stated this while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Abuja on Sunday, also disclosed that some suspected cult members have been arrested.

He said the suspects, who are seven were arrested in different coordinated intelligence operations around Kabusa, Abaji, Bwari, Kwali and Gwagwalada satellite towns.

He gave the names of the suspects as Chidindu Nonso, Sunday Atu Elisha, Matthias, Neche Isaac, Felix Isaiah, saying exhibits recovered from the suspects included six locally fabricated pistols, eight unexpended cartridges one saw, one hammer, one cutlass and one jack knife.

According to him, other two suspects are Mohammed Bello and Sani Usman, which he said were arrested for armed robbery and attempt to kidnap an armed robbery victim along Abaji axis.

The police commissioner, said exhibits also recovered from the two suspects included a mobile phone, cash sum of N60,000, which he said belonged to their victim and two cutlasses.

He, however, said that all the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

He therefore enjoined residents of the territory to remain calm, law-abiding and also comply with all the COVID-19 regulations, while assuring of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.
