2023: Security, electoral reforms, others top agenda as PDP plans confab

Security, economy, electoral reforms and other essentials of national stability are on the front burner as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensifies arrangements for its planned conference.

The opposition party’s confab is on how to “salvage” the nation and return her to the path of peace, national cohesiveness and economic prosperity.

The party said it has already commenced consultations with critical stakeholders across board on ways to rescue the nation from alleged misrule through institutional reforms ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, disclosed this while receiving the British High Commission’s Political Counsellor on Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Jonathan Bacon, at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, on Friday.

Secondus, however, did not disclose when the confab would hold.

He commended the international community and development partners for their support especially in strengthening the electoral system and urged them to show more interest in Nigeria’s democracy in the build up to the 2023 general elections.

When contacted for details, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan told our correspondent in a telephone chat that “the date for the conference is being worked by the party.”

Bacon had earlier told Prince Secondus that he was at the Wadata Plaza to meet with the leadership of the PDP to discuss the United Kingdom/Nigeria bilateral relations.
