63-year-old man arrested ‘for defiling minor’ in Edo

A 63-year-old man, identified as Sunday Igbinokhuaihe, reportedly raped a two-year-old baby in Benin the Edo State capital.
The suspect has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Urhunigbe community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
It was also gathered that the suspect, who is a neighbour to the victim’s parent, allegedly lured the girl with a loaf of bread.
It was also learnt that the suspect, after luring the minor to his place, thereafter used his finger to break the hymen.
The mother of the child was said to have noticed that something was wrong with the minor, as she screamed when the mother attempted to bath her later in the evening.
The little girl was said to have confessed to her mother how the suspect used his finger on her private part and the mother immediately reported at the Urhonigbe Police station and the suspect was arrested and later transferred to Abudu Police Division.
It was further gathered that the medical test conducted on the little girl revealed that there was a contact with her hymen.
The suspect was said to have been subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID),  Edo State Police Command in Benin, for interrogation.
When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer,  Chidi Nwabuzor,  confirmed the arrest.
He said investigation on the case had been concluded and that the suspect would appear before the court.
