A total of 101 shops were saved on Tuesday while 70 others were burnt by a fire outbreak at Alade market in Shomolu area of Lagos State.
The 70 affected lock-up shops located in market street, trade in food items, gas cylinders and other perishable goods, were damaged by the inferno.

The Ag. Head of the fire Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, explained that Ilupeju and Bolade Fire Stations were swiftly alerted to visit the location and firemen doused the fire which started around the 12:55am on Tuesday.
Also, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) DG, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said that the fire was likely from a voltage surge when power supply was restored.
Osanyintolu urged members of the public to ensure their appliances are switched off once not in use to prevent voltage surges.
