Former two-time minority leader of the House of Representatives, Abdulraham Suleman Kawu has condemned the recent quit notice issued to Fulani herdsmen in Ondo and Oyo States by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Sunday Igboho respectively.
The former lawmaker in a statement on Monday said the actions of Ondo State governor and the self-acclaimed activist, Sunday Igboho, have the potential to erode all the gains made in tackling insecurity and create unnecessary tension and mutual suspicion among Nigerians.
Kawu who is also the former Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Repsentatives) said Governor Akeredolu’s action should not have been so as he has unfettered access to President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the issue.
He lamented was that such quit notices could come at a time the APC-led Federal Government was making frantic efforts to tackle insecurity in the country.
The Kano APC Chieftain who berated Igboho, described his action as unpatriotic, unwarranted, uncalled for and, at best, divisive.
He said the issue of insecurity is a serious a matter which should not be politicized or compromised by any patriotic Nigerian.
He said people like Igboho should not be taken seriously as their aim is to destabilize the peace being enjoyed by the citizens across the length and breadth of the country.
While appealing for calm, he called on those who intend to cause violence in the land to desist.
He called on the Presidency to take decisive action on the matter to douse any tension that arose as a result of the unfortunate development.
