Ex-AGF Abdullahi Ibrahim dies

A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abdullahi Ibrahim, is dead.

He was reported to have died of COVID-19 related complications in an Abuja hospital on Sunday.

The former chairman of the Body of Benchers was called to the English Bar in 1963 after which he practised in chambers in England before returning to Nigeria where he was called to the Bar in 1964.

He served as Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of Nigeria between 1997 and 1999.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday commiserated with the government and people of Kogi State over the death of Abdullahi Ibrahim, his first Minister of Education, Science and Technology as military Head of State, who later served in the Ministry of Transportation.

Buhari, in a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, also extended condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family on behalf of his family and the entire nation.

He described the deceased as an “exemplary lawyer and statesman with impeccable integrity who will be remembered for his selfless service to the country.”
