A new political group, the New Nigerian Movement (NNM), has said it is in support of calls by various stakeholders that the South should be allowed to take a shot at the presidency in the 2023 general polls.
In a communique issued on Tuesday after its inaugural meeting in Abuja, and signed by its newly elected National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Dan-Zago, the Movement said it is determined to give Nigerians a new direction ahead of 2023.

The Movement which declared support for generational power shift in the country, said President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in “salvaging Nigeria from the age-long decay.”
According to the communique, the meeting elected Kano State Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Alh. Ahmed Haruna Dan-Zago as National Chairman of the Movement.
The communique reads in party, “The New Nigeria Movement (NNM) therefore resolved to team up with patriotic Nigerians and the President to move the country forward.
“Our Movement is in total support of the clarion call by Nigerians for power shift to the South and generational power shift.
“The pioneer members are drawn from the thirty-six states of the federation and united by a burning desire to give Nigeria a new political direction that will guarantee peace, true unity, equity and mutual trust.”
