Rivers State Police Command on Monday confirmed the killing of an Inspector of Police at Borokiri part of Port Harcourt.
Confirming the incident in Port Harcourt, the Command Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni said about 17 heavily armed men attacked its personnel from Borikiri Division, posted on a Pin-Down Point at Capt Amangala Junction, Borikiri Port Harcourt.
Omoni said while on duty, the unknown gunmen numbering about Seventeen (17) launched a surprise attack on them, leading to the death of an Inspector of Police, while other Police Officers sustained gunshot wounds.
He said that the Police Patrol Vehicle belonging to the Team was riddled with bullet holes while the corpse of the late Inspector has been evacuated and deposited in Mortuary for Autopsy.
He said that the Commissioner of Police , Joseph Mukan has ordered serious manhunt for the perpetrators, with the marching order to all the Tactical Units to identify and apprehend them without delay.
He pointed out that the area which the incident took place is under close monitoring.
