The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed optimism of wresting power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
The state chairman of the party, Haruna Sa’idu, stated this on Sunday while receiving a chieftain of APC, Abdulmalik Halliru Milton, who defected to PDP in Birnin Kebbi.
He said, “If people of Milton’s political calibre, who after assisting APC to clinch power in the state, could pitch his tent with PDP, it means PDP is on its way to taking over power from the under-performing APC government in the state.”
Sa’idu, also berated members of the state assembly for what he described as allowing the state governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, to take them for a ride.
“We have all seen footage that has gone viral on social media in which a top-notcher of APC condemned the APC government of the state for poor performance. Therefore, for us, PDP is a political party for all. Anybody willing to join us is welcome. I am also enjoining all of you to continue to woo others to our fold,” he said.
In his remark, Milton said abandoning APC for PDP was one of the key decisions he took in recent times, adding that the present APC government in the state was not only built on deceit but has failed to deliver as the populace are living in anguish.
